Kim Jong-hyun (born April 8, 1990) is a South Korean idol singer, dancer, lyricist, promotional model, and radio host. He is a member of South Korean boy group Shinee, as the main vocalist and also member of project ballad group SM The Ballad, both under SM Entertainment.

Career

Pre-debut
Jonghyun has been active in music since he was in junior high school. He was in a band and participated in many festivals in his region. In his band, his position was not as a vocalist, but as a bassist.
Before his debut with Shinee, he sang a duet with Zhang Liyin in the song �Wrongly Given Love� for her Chinese album.

Shinee

Jonghyun was discovered at the 2005 S.M. Casting System. In 2008, he was chosen as a member of the group Shinee, the 5-member boy group debuted on May 25, 2008 on SBS's Inkigayo.
